The Commandery
Civil War history and family discovery in a historic building with gardens.
Adult £10 · family day ticket £25
Plan your visitCompare Civil War discovery, free museum collections and outdoor play in Worcester.
The Commandery centres on a historic building and Civil War stories, with gardens outside. Worcester City Art Gallery & Museum offers art, natural history and creative activities in its family space. Gheluvelt Park is the outdoor choice for walks and playgrounds. Start with the interest and setting your children want.
The Commandery’s £25 day ticket covers up to two adults and three children. Its £23 annual family residents’ pass is restricted to qualifying Worcester City Council taxpayers with proof; some activities and events remain extra. The city museum has free permanent displays but can charge for exhibitions and activities. Gheluvelt lists limited free parking on Waterworks Road, while museum visitors need a separate travel budget.
Both museums normally close Mondays; the city museum also closes bank holidays and the Commandery closes throughout January. Gheluvelt’s published splash-pad season ends in early September, so autumn visits should centre on dry play. Check city museum building-work notices and use its Taylor’s Lane entrance for level access. Facilities have their own hours; select a route that fits your family’s needs.
